          in darkness muted

     safety glows

at night, the world is hushed
sleeping children
whispering lovers

the dark makes us all creep
silently rushing
carefully tiptoeing

is it the hard working fathers
we fear to wake?

or is it the red eyed monster
who lurks in shadow?
